Push the limits on the finest circuits in Manitoba.

Manitoba’s karting scene is defined by the seasons. In the winter, the action moves entirely indoors to Speedworld, the province's only year-round racing facility. When the snow melts, the scene shifts to the outskirts of Winnipeg, where massive outdoor parks offer high-speed banking and family-friendly layouts under the prairie sun.

For serious drivers, Speedworld Indoor Kart Track is the primary hub. Located on Berry Street in Winnipeg, it offers a consistent, grip-heavy experience regardless of the weather. It runs a fleet of gas-powered "Race Karts" for adults and "Sprint Karts" for juniors, making it the definitive spot for leagues and winter adrenaline. In the summer (typically May to October), Thunder Rapids Amusement Park in Headingley becomes the go-to destination. It features a dedicated Thunder Kart fleet (9HP) that is significantly faster than standard amusement rides, running on a track designed with banked corners for higher speeds. Just east of the city, Grand Prix Amusements offers a similar outdoor experience with three distinct tracks, including a "Grand Prix" track for faster driving and a "Drift" track for sliding. It is a massive complex that combines karting with mini-golf and batting cages, serving as a staple for summer family outings. For Kart Owners: Gimli Motorsport Park (about an hour north of Winnipeg) is the home of the Manitoba Karting Association. While primarily a club track for owner-drivers (hosting the MKA series), it features a 1km competition circuit that is the training ground for the province's professional racers.

Go karting in Manitoba - FAQs

Common questions about karting in Manitoba.

Speedworld Indoor Kart Track operates gas-powered karts. They offer "Race Karts" for licensed drivers (or 18+ with ID) and "Sprint Karts" for younger drivers, keeping the traditional mechanical feel alive indoors.

Generally, no. Gimli Motorsport Park is the home of the Manitoba Karting Association (MKA) and serves as a club track for owner-drivers. While they host major race weekends, they do not have a daily "arrive and drive" rental concession for the general public.

Both Thunder Rapids and Grand Prix Amusements typically open in early May and close in September or October, depending entirely on the weather. It is always best to check their websites before heading out in the spring or fall.
