About Sandham Karts
Sandham Karts is the perfect pitstop for families enjoying the Sandown seafront. Located within the Sandham Gardens activity park (right next to the dinosaur golf), this track is designed to give younger children their first taste of driving. Unlike noisy petrol tracks, these karts are electric and silent, allowing kids to zoom around the twists and turns safely. It’s less about "setting a lap time" and more about the smile on their face when they get their medal at the end.

The Karts & Track
- The Fleet: The venue uses Formula 1-styled electric karts. They are easy to drive (two pedals: stop and go) and speed-restricted for safety.
- The Track: It is a 150m purpose-built circuit with tyre barriers. It’s big enough to feel like an adventure for a 6-year-old, but small enough that parents can watch the whole race from the sidelines.
- The Rules:
- Unaccompanied: Children over 106cm can drive on their own.
- Accompanied: Smaller children (over 86cm) can ride in a kart with an adult (18+) to help steer.
- Tiny Tots: Under 86cm generally cannot ride.
The "Sandham" Experience
- Medals: Every driver gets a "Gold Medal" included in the price. This is a nice touch that saves parents from buying souvenirs later.
- Combo Deals: Since a race only lasts a few minutes (usually 6 laps), most families combine it with the other attractions on-site:
- Dino Islands: A massive dinosaur-themed mini-golf course.
- Skynets: Huge bouncy nets suspended in the air.
Facilities
- Ice Cream Shack: There is a cafe kiosk serving ice creams and coffee for waiting parents.
- Location: It is right on the beach front. You can walk straight off the sand and onto the track.
- Parking: Use the public "Fort Street" car park nearby (pay and display).
