Outdoor karting at St Eval

St Eval Kart Circuit is a fully outdoor facility in north Cornwall between Newquay and Padstow. Its programme separates drivers by age and kart category rather than mixing the faster adult fleet with younger groups.

Age groups and kart fleet

  • Cadets: ages seven to 11 use 120cc Biz Karts and must have a minimum 65cm inside-leg measurement.
  • Family category: ages 12 to 15 use 200cc Sodi RT8 karts, and adults may select the same category to race with them.
  • Adults: drivers aged 16 and over use 270cc Sodi RT8 V2 karts in adult-only sessions.
  • Infants: ages three to six use coin-operated electric cars on a separate 50-metre circuit in dry conditions only.

Sessions and safety

  • Session length: ordinary petrol-kart sessions are ten minutes and are separated by age group.
  • Arrival: booked drivers are asked to arrive 45 minutes before the session for registration, allocation and briefing.
  • Equipment: helmets and race suits are provided; a balaclava is mandatory when using a venue helmet.
  • Clothing: drivers need closed shoes and covered skin, with venue racewear available when clothing is unsuitable.

Before travelling to Cornwall

  • Weather: petrol karting normally continues in rain, but severe water can pause running and the infant track stays dry-only.
  • Seasonal access: operating times are daylight-led and can change, so check the live calendar before setting out.
  • Transport: the circuit is not close to rail or public bus routes and provides free on-site parking.
  • No directory booking: Kart Directory displays no booking CTA or external checkout because booking has not been enabled here.
