About TeamSport Newcastle

TeamSport Newcastle is located just two miles from the city centre on Scotswood Road, making it incredibly accessible for a night out. Having undergone a major refurbishment to switch from petrol to electric, it now feels like a futuristic motorsport arena rather than a gritty garage. It is one of the few venues in the UK to offer the "Holy Trinity" of karting: Serious Racing (Grand Prix), Gaming Racing (Combat Karts), and Toddler Racing (Mini Racers). Whether you are a stag do looking to shoot virtual rockets at each other or a parent introducing a 5-year-old to the wheel, this venue covers it all.

Detailed guide

The Racing Experience

  • The Main Track (500m)
This is the serious circuit. It features a flyover, underpass, and hairpins. The electric karts are heavy (batteries) but have savage acceleration.
Driving Tip: Do not slide. In petrol karts, you can get away with a bit of drift. In electric karts, sliding kills your speed instantly. Smooth inputs = fast times.
  • Combat Karts (The Game)
Unlike BattleKart Gateshead (which is just a projected floor), this uses Real Karts on a Real Track. You still have physical barriers and a steering wheel, but the track interacts with your kart. If you hit a "Turbo" patch, your kart physically speeds up. If you get hit by a "Missile," your kart physically slows down. It is the perfect bridge between racing and gaming.

The "Mini Racers" (Ages 4-7)

  • The Karts: Tiny electric karts designed for 1m+ tall children.
  • The Safety: They run in separate sessions on a modified track layout. Parents stay trackside. It is a gentle, safe introduction to steering and braking.
