About Wakefield Indoor Karting

Wakefield Indoor Karting is a year-round indoor venue built around a tarmac circuit with an 80-metre straight, hairpins, timing system and a raised spectator area. The operator lists adult and junior Arrive & Drive, endurance formats, Grand Prix racing, team events and Junior Race School. Its current pages conflict between 49 inches and 4 feet 4 inches for juniors, so families near that range should confirm eligibility. Booking remains disabled and no external checkout is shown.

Detailed guide

Tarmac indoor karting in Wakefield

Wakefield Indoor Karting runs year-round racing at Millenia Park on a tarmac circuit rather than publishing a fixed entertainment-centre layout. The operator says it changes the configuration over time and highlights an 80-metre straight, hairpin bends, electronic timing and a raised spectator area overlooking the track.

Karts and junior eligibility

  • Fleet: the current operator site profiles Sodi RT8 rental karts and sells distinct adult and junior sessions. It does not publish the fitted engine capacity, so this guide does not repeat the former unsupported 200cc claim.
  • Junior age: age eight+.
  • Height conflict: the pricing page updated in 2025 says at least 49 inches (4ft 1in), and repeats 4ft 1in in its Arrive & Drive description. The homepage still says 4ft 4in. Confirm directly if a child is close to either threshold.
  • Moving to an adult kart: the pricing page says an under-16 around 5ft 3in-5ft 4in may need an adult kart; staff can also classify a driver between 5ft 1in and 5ft 3in by height, build and leg length.

Race formats

  • Arrive & Drive: adult and junior sessions are sold in 30- or 60-minute blocks; pre-booking is recommended and groups may be mixed.
  • Individual endurance: a ten-minute qualifying session followed by a 30-, 40- or 50-minute race, for six drivers up to 15 karts.
  • Grand Prix: Mini and Full formats are for ages 16+ and require at least 20 drivers, with practice, qualifying heats and finals.
  • Team endurance: age 16+, with 60-, 90- or 120-minute race options and at least eight teams.
  • Junior development: Junior Race School covers safety, racing lines and overtaking for ages 8-15; confirm the current timetable before travel.

Safety, events and planning

  • Required: a balaclava and full-finger gloves. Drivers may bring their own or buy them at the venue; the operator says the remaining safety equipment is supplied.
  • Events: birthday parties, corporate days, stag events and tailored group racing are advertised. The offers page also lists exclusive track use for prepaid groups of 10+.
  • Address: Unit 5 Millenia Park, Thornes Road, Wakefield, WF2 8PW.
  • Contact: 01924 201808. The operator does not publish regular opening hours, so confirm availability before travelling.
  • No directory booking: Kart Directory booking is disabled and the operator's external checkout is deliberately not stored or displayed.
