If there is one track that defines the North West's racing heritage, it is the Three Sisters Circuit in Wigan. Often described as one of the UK’s most versatile motorsport venues, it features a 1.5km outdoor track that is notoriously technical, featuring the famous "Valley" section and "Coward's Summit". It is a breeding ground for talent; drivers including Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris raced here during their "Champions of the Future" campaigns. Just as legendary is the Cumbria Kart Racing Track (Rowrah) to the far north. Set within a quarry, this 1,030m circuit is often voted by professional drivers as their favourite track in the UK due to its intense, undulating layout and high grip levels.
For those in the major cities, the indoor scene is thriving. Manchester is a key hub, hosting multiple venues including TeamSport Trafford Park (formerly Daytona), which offers a high-speed 450m GP circuit. Uniquely, the region is also home to TeamKarting Rochdale, which bills itself as the "longest all-tarmac indoor petrol track" in the North West. Unlike the polished concrete found in many indoor venues, this track uses real asphalt to provide authentic grip and handling for its petrol kart fleet.
Further south in Cheshire, Hooton Park near Ellesmere Port offers a "best of both worlds" experience. Built on a former airfield, this outdoor circuit is famous for its wide, sweeping corners and twin-engine pro-karts, making it a favorite for stag dos and corporate events that want the speed of an outdoor track without the technical difficulty of a pro circuit like Rowrah.
