The central hub for the region is Inverness Kart Raceway (IKR). Located just a short drive from the city centre, this modern indoor facility has recently transitioned to a fully electric fleet. It is a purpose-built arena that provides a consistent, weather-proof racing experience—essential in the Highland climate. As a social enterprise, 100% of its profits go towards the local charity Day1, meaning your race fee helps support youth mentoring in the area. South of the city lies Aviemore Kart Raceway, situated right in the middle of the National Park. This 550m outdoor track is a holiday favourite, running powerful 270cc Sodi petrol karts against a backdrop of mountains. It is open year-round (weather permitting), and they even have water-proof suits and covered pits to keep the racing going in the rain. Further north in Golspie, you will find the North of Scotland Kart Club (Littleferry Circuit). This is Britain's most northerly kart track and is a must-visit for anyone driving the North Coast 500. While primarily a competition club for owner-drivers, they run dedicated "Hire Kart" days on specific Saturdays throughout the year. The Wildcard: Mountain Carting For a completely different thrill, Cairngorm Mountain (Aviemore) offers the only "Mountain Carting" experience in Scotland. There are no engines here—you take a funicular train to the top and descend a 3.4km track using gravity alone.
