Unleash your inner racer across East Sussex.

Residents of East Sussex face a unique challenge: the county is home to famous coastal towns like Brighton, Eastbourne, and Hastings, but it currently has no permanent commercial rental kart circuits inside its borders. Following the closure of the historic Campbell Circuit in Polegate, racers must now look just across the county lines to find the action.

If you are in the West of the county (Brighton & Hove), your "local" track is TeamSport Brighton, which is physically located in Lancing (West Sussex). This venue features a high-tech multi-level indoor circuit with a banked flyover and runs a fleet of electric karts for instant torque. For outdoor thrills, QLeisure in Albourne offers a professional 800m tarmac circuit just 15 minutes north of the city. If you are in the East of the county (Eastbourne, Hastings, Rye), the best option is to head across the Kent border to Lydd Kart Circuit. This is one of the premier outdoor tracks in the UK, boasting a massive 1,040m layout that is significantly larger and faster than most leisure tracks. It is only a 20-30 minute drive from the East Sussex border and offers true high-speed racing. Note: You may see Knockhatch Adventure Park (Hailsham) listed online. While they do have go-karts, this is a theme park attraction with short 5-minute rides, rather than a dedicated race circuit for competitive events.

Go karting in East Sussex - FAQs

Below are answers to common questions about karting in East Sussex, covering local options and the major nearby tracks.

There is no dedicated professional circuit in Eastbourne town centre. The nearest options are Knockhatch Adventure Park (Hailsham) for casual leisure karting, or travelling west to TeamSport Brighton (Lancing) for a full race experience.

TeamSport Brighton runs a fleet of electric karts. This allows for a fume-free indoor environment and provides drivers with instant torque and acceleration, which is particularly effective on the track's multi-level flyovers.

QLeisure (Brighton Karting) is widely considered the best outdoor track in the area. It is located in Albourne (approx. 15-20 mins north of Brighton) and features an 800m circuit with fast, flowing corners and professional 270cc petrol karts.

The Campbell Circuit in Polegate is a historic venue, but its status as a daily rental kart track is limited. It is often used for car meets, autosolos, and historic events rather than standard public "Arrive & Drive" karting. For guaranteed availability, most racers head to QLeisure.

QLeisure (Albourne) is the most popular choice. It is an outdoor venue with fast petrol karts, a bar, and other activities like clay pigeon shooting, making it ideal for groups.

With the closure of Campbell Circuit and Trax, Eastbourne has no dedicated race track. Most locals travel east to Lydd Kart Circuit (approx. 40 mins) or west to TeamSport Brighton (approx. 45 mins) for a proper race experience.
