Cornwall offers a distinct style of karting: big, wide, outdoor tracks designed to handle summer crowds. Unlike the tight industrial units of London, the circuits here are sprawling tarmac beasts often located on former airfields or quarries. While it lacks indoor tracks, it makes up for it with some of the fastest and longest laps in the South West.
The heavyweight champion of the region is St Eval Kart Circuit (between Newquay and Padstow). This is a massive facility featuring a 1.3km track—one of the largest in the UK. It is designed to cater to everyone from serious racers to holidaying families. Uniquely, it separates its grids strictly by age and speed: the "Thunderkarts" (390cc) are for adults only and hit 60mph+, while separate family sessions allow parents to race alongside their children.
In the south east of the county, Kartworld at Adrenalin Quarry (Liskeard) provides a high-adrenaline alternative. Situated within a massive adventure park (famous for its zip wire), the 800m outdoor track is fast and flowing. It runs a fleet of 270cc Bizi karts and is famous for its "arrive and drive" culture, making it the perfect add-on to a day of cliff-jumping and axe-throwing.
For those in West Cornwall (St Ives/Penzance), Coast 2 Coast Karting in Hayle is the local hero. Located near the St Erth train station, this outdoor track is technical and grippy. It stands out for its fleet of Twin-Engine Pro Karts, which offer rapid acceleration out of the corners, a feature usually reserved for pro-level corporate events.
Note on Indoor Racing: There are no permanent indoor go-kart tracks located deeply within Cornwall. If you need a weather-proof indoor track, the closest option is Teamworks Karting Plymouth (Laser Fighters) just across the Tamar Bridge in Devon.
