Challenge your friends at the best tracks Gloucestershire has to offer.
Gloucestershire offers a focused but high-quality karting scene. For most residents, the action centres on the city of Gloucester itself, home to a well-established indoor track that has resisted the electric trend. Meanwhile, out in the Cotswold hills, the county hosts one of the most historic and friendly kart clubs in the UK.
The primary destination for "Arrive & Drive" racing is JDR Karting in Gloucester. Located on Bristol Road (near the Quays), this is a classic indoor venue with a twist: it still runs petrol karts. While many indoor centres have switched to electric, JDR offers the raw mechanical feel of 200cc Honda engines on its technical 300m track, which features high-speed banked corners for better overtaking. It is a complete entertainment hub, also hosting laser tag and Segway experiences, making it the top choice for parties in the county.
For motorsport purists, Rissington Kart Club (Little Rissington) is a legendary name. Situated on an old RAF airfield in the Cotswolds, this is a fast, flowing outdoor circuit. However, it is strictly an Owner-Driver club. You cannot typically turn up and rent a kart here. Instead, it is the place to go if you have your own equipment or want to watch high-level club racing (including British Championship rounds) for free on race weekends.
Nearby Options: Because dedicated rental tracks are scarce in the rural parts of the county, many residents travel just across the borders.
- South: TeamSport Bristol (Avonmouth) is only 35 minutes down the M5 and offers a larger multi-level petrol track.
- East: M4 Karting (Hullavington, Wiltshire) is very close to the Cotswolds/Cirencester border and offers indoor petrol racing.

Go karting in Gloucestershire - FAQs
Common questions about finding a race in Gloucestershire.
JDR Karting operates a petrol fleet. They use 200cc Honda engines for adults and restricted petrol karts for juniors (ages 8-12), ensuring an authentic motorsport soundtrack.
Generally, no. Rissington Kart Club is an owner-driver venue. You cannot book a "stag do" or a 20-minute rental session there. However, if you are interested in starting karting as a hobby, visiting on a race Sunday is the best way to get advice.
There is no permanent track in Cheltenham town. The nearest option is JDR Karting in Gloucester (approx. 15-20 mins away). Alternatively, for outdoor rental racing, residents often travel to M4 Karting (Hullavington) or Worcester.
JDR Karting is excellent for children because it offers dedicated "Junior" sessions on the main track and even allows children as young as 4 to drive on a separate "training" track (Racing Rascals).
No dedicated outdoor rental tracks currently operate inside the county for public "Arrive & Drive." The closest outdoor options are March Hare Leisure (Worcestershire border) or Dunkeswell Raceway (Devon) for a full race day.
