Start your engines at the most thrilling tracks in Mid Wales.

In Mid Wales, motorsport drivers have two distinct choices: clean tarmac speed or muddy rally thrills. The region is home to a fantastic "Petrol vs Gravel" rivalry. You can choose to race slick tyres on the massive 900m circuit at Kinsham (on the Powys border) or slide powerful buggies sideways on the loose surfaces of Newtown.

For traditional racing, the undisputed champion of the area is Kinsham Raceway (Presteigne). Situated right on the Herefordshire/Powys border, this venue is the daily "home track" for residents of Llandrindod Wells and Knighton. It features a serious 900m outdoor tarmac circuit known for its challenging elevation changes and fast banked corners. It runs a fleet of 200cc petrol rental karts for the public, while also serving as a major hub for owner-drivers in the region. If you want to embrace the region's World Rally Championship heritage, Mid Wales Off Road (Newtown) offers a completely different challenge. This is a dedicated outdoor gravel facility that runs powerful 400cc Honda Rally Karts. Unlike slick-tyre karting, this is all about car control—steering with the throttle and drifting through mud and dirt. It is a visceral, messy, and adrenaline-fuelled experience that you simply cannot get in a city warehouse. Other Border Options:
  • North (Oswestry): Residents in Welshpool and North Powys often cross the border to Rednal Karting (Shropshire), which features a massive 1km outdoor track.
  • South (Hereford): For those near Brecon, Herefordshire Raceway (Weobley) is another excellent outdoor tarmac option, located about 45 minutes drive east.
