Intense urban sprints and top-tier indoor karting.
The West Midlands is the industrial heart of the UK, offering the highest density of indoor tracks in the country. From the city centres of Birmingham and Coventry to the workshops of the Black Country, you are never more than 20 minutes from a grid. The region offers a clear choice: high-tech electric circuits for clean speed in the cities, or traditional petrol tracks for raw mechanical noise in the towns.
In Coventry, the headline venue is TeamSport Coventry (Charter Avenue). Unlike many modern city tracks that have switched to electric, this multi-level circuit retains a fleet of 200cc petrol karts. It features a 500m layout with a flyover and is the primary destination for "purist" racers in the east of the county who want the authentic sound and smell of motorsport.
In Birmingham, the scene is dominated by electric power. TeamSport Birmingham (Oldbury) is one of the UK's largest indoor tracks, featuring a massive 1,000m lap and high-torque electric karts. Similarly, Teamworks Karting City (near the Bullring) offers a clean, fume-free electric experience in the city centre. However, just outside the ring road in Halesowen, Teamworks Karting West bucks the trend by offering indoor petrol racing.
Heading into the Black Country (Wolverhampton/Stourbridge), the "old school" vibe remains strong. Cannon Raceway (Coseley) is a legendary indoor petrol track famous for its technical figure-of-8 layout and flyover. Full Throttle Raceway (Stourbridge) continues this tradition with a fast, wide indoor circuit running 200cc petrol engines. Finally, PMG Karting World (Walsall) offers a modernized experience with electric karts and a high-tech barrier system.
Note on Outdoor Racing: There are currently no permanent outdoor rental tracks inside the West Midlands county borders following the closure of Birmingham Wheels. For outdoor racing, residents typically travel just across the borders to Adventure Sports Warwick or Daytona Tamworth.
