Lay out the equipment you actually take to the circuit before choosing a bag. A helmet, suit, boots and spare clothing need a different amount of space from gloves and a change of clothes for rental karting. These two bags originate in motocross; their published dimensions make them candidates for carrying karting kit, not purpose-built karting recommendations.

Research-based comparison, not a hands-on review. How we assessed these products.

Which option suits you?

Consider the 125-litre Goanna if you want a large carry bag. Compare the 150-litre Komodo if wheels and a telescopic handle would help on your usual route from car to paddock. Both may be excessive for a short rental session; measure your load before choosing either.

Published specification: Published capacity 125L; dimensions 82 × 39 × 45cm

The carry option for a substantial kit load, if you really need the space.

The Goanna’s published 125-litre capacity places it well beyond a small bag for a rental session. Start with a packed-kit measurement rather than assuming more space makes it better value.

Its main trade-off in this comparison is transport: you will be carrying it. Think about the fully loaded weight and the distance from the car, not just whether the empty bag fits in the boot.

Pros

  • Large published capacity for organising a substantial kit load.
  • External dimensions can be checked against storage space.

Cons and limitations

  • No wheels for moving a heavy load.
  • Likely excessive for a minimal rental-karting kit.

Alpinestars Komodo Travel Bag

Alpinestars · 150-litre wheeled bag

Published specification: Published capacity 150L; 94 × 45 × 40cm; wheels and telescopic handle

The wheeled option when the route to the paddock supports it.

The Komodo offers more published capacity than the Goanna, together with wheels and a telescopic handle. That combination is worth considering for a large load across suitable surfaces.

It is also the larger bag to store and lift into a vehicle. Measure the boot opening and think through steps or gravel on your regular route; wheels do not remove every carrying job.

Pros

  • Wheels and telescopic handle provide an alternative to carrying.
  • 150-litre published capacity accommodates a larger packing plan.

Cons and limitations

  • Large external footprint needs checking before purchase.
  • Rolling performance and handle durability are not tested here.

Capacity is only one measurement

Compare the published external dimensions with your car boot and storage space. A litre figure does not prove that a particular helmet or protective case fits. Leave room to organise equipment without forcing zips shut, and consider how easy the loaded bag will be to lift into the car.

Think about the journey from the car

A wheeled bag is worth investigating if you regularly cross smooth surfaces with a heavy load. Steps, gravel and tight storage spaces change that calculation. We have not tested rolling effort or handle durability. The decision should reflect the route you use, including where you will still need to lift the bag.

Separate equipment thoughtfully

Plan where boots, damp clothing and clean kit will go. Follow the care instructions for both the bag and its contents, and unpack after the trip. Neither a large compartment nor a motorsport logo establishes impact protection for a helmet; use appropriate protection for delicate equipment and do not let heavy tools move against it.

Before you buy

  • Measure your equipment, boot opening and storage space.
  • Decide how often you will carry the loaded bag rather than wheel it.
  • Check the exact colour/version, dimensions and seller’s return terms.

Our verdict

The Goanna is the carry option; the Komodo adds wheels and more space. Either can be too much bag for a light kit. Buy for your actual load, vehicle and route to the paddock, and treat helmet protection as a separate requirement.

How we assessed these products

We compared the manufacturer specifications and documentation linked beneath each product, checked on 16 September 2026.
