A memory card is a small part of a camera budget, but the wrong model can undermine the whole recording plan. Start with your camera maker’s supported cards and capacities. Then compare the exact card generation and capacity, rather than buying whichever listing advertises the largest number on its packaging.

Research-based comparison, not a hands-on review. How we assessed these products.

Which option suits you?

These three microSD families offer U3/V30 variants worth checking against your camera’s approved list. There is no universal winner here. Choose the supported model and capacity from a seller you trust, and treat the retailer’s exact model code as part of the specification.

Published specification: Extreme microSD UHS-I models with U3 and V30 classifications

A documented starting point, with the exact generation more important than the family name.

SanDisk Extreme is a useful candidate to check against your camera maker’s card list. The linked data sheet describes a particular generation; a retailer using the same family name may be selling a different card.

Compare an exact capacity and model rather than treating every Extreme card as identical. A small saving is less attractive if the listing leaves you uncertain about which product will arrive.

Pros

  • Published U3/V30 classifications for the referenced range.
  • Manufacturer data sheet makes specification checking possible.

Cons and limitations

  • Similar Extreme and Extreme PRO names can complicate listings.
  • Transfer-speed claims vary with capacity and generation.

Consider the exact older variant only if compatibility and seller stock are clear.

The linked Samsung page covers the 512GB MB-MD512SA/EU PRO Plus and currently marks that variant as no longer available. This does not tell us whether a retailer still has genuine stock, but it means this is not a confirmed current buying option.

Do not substitute a newer PRO Plus simply because the packaging looks familiar. Check its full model code against your camera guidance, then compare it with the other supported cards at the same capacity.

Pros

  • The exact variant has a manufacturer specification page.
  • U3/V30 classification provides a useful baseline to check.

Cons and limitations

  • Referenced UK manufacturer variant is no longer available.
  • Retail stock and newer variants require separate verification.

Kingston Canvas Go! Plus SDCG4 microSD

Kingston · SDCG4 generation; verify capacity

Published specification: Canvas Go! Plus SDCG4 microSD: U3/V30

A clearly identified alternative when SDCG4 appears in your compatibility checks.

The SDCG4 designation is worth keeping in your shopping notes. It distinguishes the referenced Canvas Go! Plus generation from older products carrying a similar name.

Choose capacity after checking your camera’s limit and how regularly you offload recordings. There is little benefit in buying more storage than you need if it encourages you to leave your only copy of a valuable session on the card.

Pros

  • Explicit generation code helps compare listings.
  • U3/V30 specification is documented by Kingston.

Cons and limitations

  • A family recommendation does not approve every capacity.
  • Older generations can appear in the same search results.

Read speed is not recording speed

The large transfer-speed figure on a listing may describe reading files under particular conditions. V30 is a video speed classification based on a minimum sequential write rate of 30MB/s. That makes the label useful for comparison, but does not replace the camera’s compatibility guidance. A newer card generation with the same family name may still need checking.

Capacity should match your workflow

Consider how often you can copy footage off the card, and how much video you are prepared to keep in one place. A smaller supported card may be adequate if you transfer files after each visit. A larger card is convenient for longer trips but should not become the only copy of your recordings. Do not assume a camera accepts every capacity sold under a familiar product name.

Compare like with like

Use the same capacity when comparing offers and check whether a reader or SD adapter is included. A full-size SD card will not fit a microSD slot. Once you have a compatible card, follow the camera maker’s formatting instructions and make a short test recording before relying on it for a session.

Before you buy

  • Match the exact model, generation and capacity against your camera’s guidance.
  • Compare microSD cards at the same capacity and confirm the U3/V30 marking.
  • Check seller, warranty and package contents; back up important footage.

Our verdict

Buy the exact supported card, not a familiar-looking package. SanDisk and Kingston offer documented families to check; the older Samsung variant needs an additional stock and model check. Compatibility, a trustworthy seller and a workable backup routine are more useful decision points than the largest advertised transfer speed.

How we assessed these products

We compared the manufacturer specifications and documentation linked beneath each product, checked on 16 September 2026. Our recommendations interpret those published details for karting use; we have not bought, handled or tested these products. Pros and limitations describe suitability and documented features, not measured performance. We give no numerical scores because we have no comparative test results. This is a selected shortlist, not an exhaustive market survey. Prices and Amazon stock have not been verified.
