Go Karting in Alabama

Challenge your friends at the best tracks Alabama has to offer.

Alabama’s karting scene is defined by its geography. In the north, specifically the Birmingham metro area, the focus is on high-performance indoor racing that runs year-round. Down south on the coast, the scene shifts to massive outdoor adventure parks that have been staples of Gulf Shores family vacations for decades.

For serious drivers in the Birmingham area, the premier destination is K1 Speed in Bessemer (formerly Autobahn Indoor Speedway). This facility brings the world’s most popular indoor karting brand to Alabama, featuring high-torque electric karts capable of speeds up to 45mph. The track is fully air-conditioned and known for its "Grand Prix" style layout, making it the top choice for adult leagues and corporate events. Heading south to the beaches? The Track Family Recreation Center in Gulf Shores is a legendary spot. It is famous for The Wild Woody, a three-story spiraling wooden track that challenges drivers with elevation changes you simply cannot find on flat concrete circuits. It runs classic gas-powered karts and is the centerpiece of a larger amusement park. In Mobile, the scene has recently leveled up with Surge Entertainment. This massive indoor entertainment hub features a modern multi-level electric kart track. Unlike the older flat tracks, this circuit features inclines and declines, offering a "roller coaster" driving sensation that is safe for kids and exciting for adults. Nearby Options:
  • Creekside Family Fun Center (Foley): A great outdoor option just minutes from the OWA parks, featuring gas karts and two mini-golf courses.
  • Huntsville Area: While the Insanity Complex has closed, residents often look to Main Event or specialized club tracks for racing.
