Go Karting in North Carolina
Find the perfect karting experience in North Carolina.
In North Carolina, go-karting is more than just an amusement; it is a training ground. Known as "Race City USA," the region north of Charlotte (Mooresville) is home to arguably the most famous rental kart track in America. Unlike many states where electric karts dominate, North Carolina has kept the tradition of gas-powered racing alive and well, both indoors and outdoors, catering to a population that knows the difference between a real engine and a battery.
The crown jewel of the state (and perhaps the entire East Coast) is Trackhouse Motorplex in Mooresville. Formerly known as GoPro Motorplex, this facility is owned by the NASCAR team Trackhouse Racing. The 0.7-mile outdoor track is a replica of the historic Kartdromo Parma in Italy. It runs a fleet of high-speed CRG gas karts that reach 55mph, serving as a playground for professional drivers and serious enthusiasts alike.
In the Raleigh/Triangle area, Rush Hour Karting stands out by offering two distinct experiences. Their Garner location is a rare find: a modern indoor track that runs gas-powered karts, offering the visceral sound and speed that purists love. Their Morrisville location, meanwhile, features a high-tech multi-level track with electric karts, perfect for those who prefer instant torque and a fume-free environment.
For those in Charlotte, Victory Lane Karting has been the go-to spot for years. It features a technical indoor layout and authentic racing karts, complete with a "Pit Road Bar & Grill" that has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. Just north in Mooresville, The Pit Indoor Karting offers a massive entertainment complex with indoor racing, axe throwing, and laser tag, making it the ultimate destination for parties.
Family Options: For a more casual experience, Frankie’s Fun Park (locations in Charlotte and Raleigh) offers reputable outdoor "Road Courses" that are a step above the typical carnival ride, featuring 1/4-mile tracks and timed races.
