Detailed guide

Apparelmaster Raceway in Te Puke

KartSport Bay of Plenty is a competition club based at 154 Alley Road. The official track page publishes a 725-metre full circuit and a 465-metre short configuration, plus two magnetic timing strips.

The circuit carries ratings for use in two directions and hosts club and visiting-series activity. It is a race-kart venue rather than an ordinary walk-in hire-kart attraction.

Club-day participation

  • Race format: a typical club day includes tuning runs followed by multiple heats for each class.
  • Licence: drivers need the membership, KartSport New Zealand licence or advertised day-licence route appropriate to the event.
  • Timing: transponders are part of the competition format and hire is listed separately where available.
  • Spectators: the club explicitly welcomes the public to watch racing and learn about the sport.

The supervised Have a Go route

The club's Have a Go programme is the practical first step for a non-member who wants to try a proper race kart. It supplies an age-appropriate kart for drivers from six years old, the required overalls, helmet, neck brace and gloves, coaching and three 10-minute track sessions; the participant brings suitable shoes.

Before you visit

  • Arrange driving in advance: contact the club rather than arriving expecting an unrestricted rental session.
  • Check the current calendar: event dates, gates-open time and race-day timetable vary through the season.
  • Confirm current charges: membership, race, day-licence, transponder and Have a Go fees are published separately and can change.
  • Use the club contact: the current official membership page lists bopkartclub@gmail.com for general enquiries.
