About KartSport Taranaki

KartSport Taranaki is an affiliated owner-driver club at Joll Street in Waitara, running club meetings, licensed practice and regional competition. It does not provide everyday rental karting, although volunteer-run Have A Go days give first-timers aged six and above two supervised track sessions in supplied equipment several times a year. Kart Directory keeps booking disabled because access depends on club membership, a KartSport New Zealand licence or a separately announced Have A Go event.

Detailed guide

An owner-driver club in Waitara

KartSport Taranaki is a KartSport New Zealand affiliated club with more than 50 years of history. Its regular programme centres on member practice, club racing and progression through recognised kart classes rather than casual walk-in rental.

Club racing and practice

  • Race days: club meetings usually run monthly, supported by Winter and Summer Series, Club Championships and enduros.
  • Classes: the programme covers Cadet, Mini ROK, Junior, Senior, Vintage and other sanctioned categories.
  • Practice: annual key access is limited to members holding an eligible KartSport NZ practice, vintage or competition licence.
  • Hours: permitted practice is 09:30-17:00, extending to 18:00 during daylight saving.

Have A Go days

  • Purpose: Have A Go is an introduction before buying a kart, joining the club and obtaining a licence.
  • Availability: volunteer-run dates are normally announced three to five times per year.
  • Package: participants receive a suitable kart, helmet, overalls, gloves and two ten-minute track sessions.
  • Ages: the club publishes access from age six, with age-appropriate Cadet, Mini ROK and Clubsport equipment.

Choose the right route

  • No daily rentals: the club explicitly states that it does not operate a rental-kart service.
  • New drivers: join the Have A Go waitlist and wait for a confirmed event date.
  • Owner-drivers: arrange membership, the correct licence, induction and key access before practising.
  • No directory booking: this listing has no booking button, external checkout or inferred public availability.
