Go Karting in Michigan
Get behind the wheel for unmatched racing in Michigan.
Michigan’s karting scene has completely reinvented itself in the last few years. The Detroit metro area, once famous for its gritty indoor gas tracks, has shifted toward premium, high-speed electric racing with the expansion of Full Throttle Adrenaline Park. Meanwhile, the Lansing area offers two distinct extremes: a massive indoor entertainment mall for adults and one of the oldest, most respected outdoor tracks in the country.
The biggest news in Michigan karting is the dominance of Full Throttle Adrenaline Park. They have acquired the state's two most famous indoor tracks—Kart 2 Kart in Sterling Heights and JD Racing in Novi. Both facilities have been renovated and converted to run high-speed electric karts for adults (Pro Karts) while retaining gas options for juniors in some locations. These are now the premier destinations for indoor speed in Metro Detroit.
In Lansing, the contrast is stark. High Caliber Karting & Entertainment (Okemos) offers a modern "action park" experience inside the Meridian Mall. It features two indoor tracks with 50mph electric karts, alongside axe throwing and rage rooms, making it a social hub for the capital region. Just down the road lies the legendary East Lansing Kart Track (ELKT). This outdoor facility is a time capsule of motorsport history; it is a dedicated "driver's track" with a challenging layout that has hosted professional racers for decades. While primarily a club track, it remains the holy grail for outdoor enthusiasts.
West Michigan & Up North:
- Grand Rapids Grand Prix: The only two-level indoor track in the state. Located in Byron Center, it runs high-performance electric karts on a technical track with elevation changes.
- K1 Speed: The national giant has established a strong foothold in Oxford (north of Detroit) and recently opened a new location in Traverse City, bringing consistent electric racing to the vacation capital of the state.
