Go Karting in Washington State
High-speed action awaits in Washington State.
In Washington, go-karting is a year-round pursuit that adapts to the seasons. During the rainy months, the action stays indoors at high-tech electric facilities in Redmond and Tukwila. But in the summer, the garage doors open at the state's premier outdoor tracks, offering some of the most technical and fast asphalt racing in North America.
For the Seattle/Tacoma area, the outdoor king is PGP Motorsports Park (Pacific Grand Prix) in Kent. Located at Pacific Raceways, this is a 0.9-mile outdoor circuit designed for competition. It runs high-performance Birel N35 gas karts that can reach 50 mph. The track is famous for its versatility, allowing it to run simultaneous layouts, and it serves as the region's primary hub for serious league racing.
For those in the north (near the Canadian border), SIMA (Sumas International Motorsport Academy) is a hidden gem. It is one of the few tracks in the world that offers 2-stroke racing kart rentals (125cc Italian engines) for qualified drivers, alongside standard 4-stroke rentals. It is a world-class facility that hosts major international events.
Indoors, K1 Speed now dominates the landscape. The long-standing Redmond location serves the Eastside with its technical electric track, while a brand new Tukwila location (formerly the site of Sykart) has recently opened to serve the South Sound. Both offer consistent, climate-controlled racing year-round.
Important Closure Update:
- Traxx Indoor Raceway (Mukilteo): This historic track permanently closed in October 2022 after 24 years of operation.
- Sykart Indoor Racing Center (Tukwila): The Tukwila location closed its doors in mid-2024 and has been converted into the new K1 Speed Tukwila.
