About Taupō Go Karts

Its Rimo single karts reach up to 50km/h and tandem karts up to 45km/h, with 10-minute races and separate age, height and weight rules for drivers and passengers. Weather, event activity and two conflicting closing times on the official page make advance confirmation essential, and Kart Directory does not offer a public booking hand-off for this New Zealand listing.

Karting at the motorsport park
Taupō Go Karts uses a 400m outdoor circuit inside Taupō International Motorsport Park. The fleet comprises German-built Rimo single and tandem karts, and public races run for 10 minutes.
It is a weather-exposed activity within a working motorsport venue. Rain, major events or operational requirements can affect access, so confirm the day's programme before travelling.
Driver and passenger rules
- Single kart: drivers must be at least 10 years old and 140cm tall.
- Tandem driver: the driver must be at least 16 and 140cm tall.
- Tandem passenger: passengers must be at least six years old and 120cm tall.
- Fit limits: the published maximum is 2m tall and 120kg, subject to the final safe-fit decision.
What to expect
Single karts are advertised at up to 50km/h and tandems at up to 45km/h. Drivers aged 12 or younger are speed-restricted, and every participant receives a helmet and hairnet after the safety briefing.
Before arriving
- Arrive early: the venue asks guests to report 30 minutes before their session.
- Dress safely: closed shoes are required and loose clothing must be secured.
- Check group rules: the group FAQ uses a 13+ threshold, so organised parties should confirm eligibility directly.
- Verify the time: the official page shows conflicting closing times and does not run karting in wet weather.
