Detailed guide
Historic owner-driver karting in Fremont
Fremont Raceway Park was built in 1961 as Hasselbach’s Kart Speedway and is described by its operator as one of America’s oldest kart tracks. It remains an outdoor owner-driver facility: competitors bring a compliant kart rather than purchasing an arrive-and-drive rental heat.
Tracks and classes
- Mixed layouts: the venue supports paved road-course and oval competition, with individual rules determining which layout each class uses.
- Younger drivers: current rules include Kid Kart and Briggs 206 Sportsman for ages 8-12.
- Progression: 206 Junior covers ages 12-15, while senior, masters, Predator and Clone categories serve older drivers.
- Technical checks: post-race inspection follows the applicable Briggs 206, AKRA and track-specific rules.
Current access boundary
- No rental fleet: Fremont is an owner-driver circuit and does not advertise public rental karts.
- Calendar check: the official site was current in August 2026 but displayed no next event, so do not rely on the older 2025 schedule page for race or practice times.
- Private use: any practice or track-rental request should be confirmed directly with operator Carson Smith.
- Safety: FRP staff can reject any kart considered unsafe or outside the relevant rules.
